The Mary Rudd Cochran papers contain biographical files, correspondence, financial and property files, professional records, writings file, and photographs. Though the papers cover a range of activities, the collection mainly documents Cochran's private life. Her personal files, primarily consisting of correspondence, detail her association with Oberlin's leading 19th century families: the Cochrans, Allens, and Coxes. Other files highlight Cochran's longtime professional support of women's issues, including her involvement with women-centered organizations (i.e., Business and Professional Women's Club); and, as a librarian, her championing the study and improvement of correctional facilities' libraries.
